For its age, a really nice, unmolested, and nearly 100% orig Willie car.
(Willoe Rells cars are the lightest cars built during his hay day. A typical Rells 500", 4 soeed lenco clutch car w/a 180lb driver cartied nearly 250lbs and could achieve 55% on the rear, which they thought then w/the tire technology, & not yet grasping wheel soeed, was the ticket.

Thats why these Rells cars make such great No Prep and Grudge cars, cuz there lite and have carbon bodys and steel panels.

All Willie cars a kways used the best components money could buy.

Car still has orig steel Konis, and they dyno good.

The car is an EX-
1988 EX Willie Rells Pro Stock
Thunderbird Super Coupe

Its the Same exact chassis design Mad Dog won 1988 Championship with,
(Confirmed By long time employee Ed Weidaman & employee during the era, Jim Moore)

Only diff is this car uses the TBird body vs Bob's Ford Probe body.

But everyone else using Rells cars in that era ran fast.

In like '87 or '88, Tony Christians Rells car was
#17 on 60ft @Indy US Nationals, but that same pass, Tony's car was #2 too the 1/8 mile.

Tony , Very often using Reher & Morrison engs, he, often outran R&M, w/there own engines.

When they were still using Don's cars, so even they bought a Willie car.

Butch Leal for decades used Willie cars, as did Dyno Don.

(Most think Bobby G. won all the '85-'89 Championships in Haas cars ONLY!. NOT TRUE, NOT IN '88.

I myself, Dischbein, & Parker, we all built in summer of '88 the Probe that Bob won the '89 NHRA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP W/ ..Winning the 1st 7 of the 1st 11 races in '89.

And we worked on the '88 Rells car @ Haas's, when I was there, in summer of '88.

You could clearly see the Rells car was much Rigid a chasdis design then, than any other produced by anyone, using larger diam tubing, yet stil being much lighter thsn anyone ekese cars ever built in this time frame.

Tony Christian was a Huge advocate & fan of the design and workings of a Willie car, & talked Bob, & even Reher into trying 1, ..
They both had Rells cars in '88.

In 1988, like "8, of the top 10"
NHRA Pro Stock cars , <points wise>
were ALL ""Willie Rells"" built cars.

THEY WERE, & STILL ARE EXTREMELY WELL DESIGNED CARS THAT GUYS RUN LOW SIX IN AS THEY WERE BUILT IN LATE 80S.

WJ had 1, Reher, Tony, Butch Leal, Scibner Bros.
Musi's Popeye Green Camaro, were ALL
Willie Rells car's,
as was nearly Every Dyno Don Nicholson, car.

Car uses A HAIRY WEST (Hairy Glass)
Carbon body T-Bird Super Coupe,

Typical Willie large diam tube car,
but yet super light wt# chassis,
W/ expired NHRA/IHRA EXOIRED Y.0 CERTS ON CHASSIS.
This car prolly doesnt have 300 runs on it since built. ITS STILL GOT TONS IF SUOER WWIK RUNS LEFT IN HER, & THE reputation of Wotlrld class design backed by championships and the best racers owning this chassis design and doing well with it.

This is not an all Titanium package Willie car, but still lighter than any brand of that era.

Lamb front Struts & brakes,
<all willie cars used the best parts money could buy>
,Mark Williams Rear 40 spline axles,
and Mark Williams rear brakes.

Car uses, like nearly all top quality Rells cars, a. BOB MEYER <& Pat>> fabbed up rear end housing.,

W/Typical Willie Super Back brace & 3.5" diam tubes/.250" wall
Bob Meyer used to "Rough in" Willie's Rear end housings, & the either Willie, Todf Bevis,
Or longest term employee @Willies,
Ed Weidaman Jr. , or perhaps Jim Moore , or Kevin,
would then install all the 4 link brackets as Willie saw fit fir that application and cars intent..
They then finished it out, and instslled the housing ends @Rells shop, putting on the brackets and finish it out 1st.

For an '88 car of any builder,
This 4130 Rear end still uses a HUGE
<FOR BOTH THEN, '88, & NOW, 2018>

A 3.5" Diam. , 1/4" wall, 4130 axle tube on the housing ,

Some later housings use 4", like we use on our own builds, as we learned the benifits of large tube housings from working for Willie,
myself at 1 time.

So we know Willie cars, & there design well.

That 3.5" tube diam., was the biggest then, & still is as big , by any of the big car builders standards.

Car is in really nice for its age, & many of the cars systems are all still ORIGINAL, & with most items being in great shape.

Car has cross shaft fir clutch, and We believe a clutch pedal may be in a box with it.
Has alum Radiator, alum driveshaft.
And fire system.
Has large electric Fuel pump, and had a front and rear mnt fuel cell when we got it, and we removed the front tubing to redo, and removed the irig rear, as its no longer meeded today.

But can be re-installed if you chose, as all the pieces are still w/car.

Car even had an orig ERA RRACEPAC Computer that worked,
that was pwriod correct, & printed on the thermal paper printer.

It was All hooked up and intact.

We bought the car, almost looking like it had just came from Willies shop, with some runs on it, & with a few hundred runs on it.

Tubs do have some rock dings as Willie used .025" - 2024 alum on this car.
It can either be re-installed too look orig, or can be replaced.

Car is oresently disasdembled to ckean up and uodate a few small items, but it was a running, racing car when we bought it rolling.

Only reason we are not going to use this great car is we got back our own car we built yrs ago that recently came up for sale.

& we PREFER to race a car we desugned, engineered & built, using all the tech we kearned from working fir guys like Haas, Bickel, Willie Rells,
& the Great Gary Hajek Jr.!!
( ran Haas's program while it wrnt from unknown to famous)

So we have worked in 5+ World champ race car prigrsms, and we know good cars, and thats ehy, even as a car builder, we had to buy tjis kegendary Willie Rells masterpiece fir either Nostslgia racing or GRUDGE & No Prep racing, which rlrhis era technology is like racing No Prep today.
Cuz tire tech & track prep DURING THIS ERA,
were not great, so this CARS sLSUSPENSION DESIGN GEOMETRY is designed Perfectly,

FOR EITHER GO FAST RACING, OR NOT SO
GREAT Styke, of No TRACK PREP RACING,
OR GRUDGE RACING.
AS THIS FLY WEIGHT CAR IS WORTH MAMLNY TENTHS IN YOUR POCKET DUE TOO ITS FLY WEIGHT CONSTRUCTION.
LIGHTENING HOLES ON OLALL THE WINDOW FLANGE STRIPS, WHICH IS HOURS AN HOURS FIR A LB OF WEIGHT.
BUT THSTS WILLIE & Ed's Style.

Thats why people who know these cars pay big money for them, cuz nobody today goes to the LENGTHS Willoe did.
THATS WHY WE BOUGHT CAR,

CUZ ITS A TON OF WORK TO REPLICATE IT, MAN HR WISE.
LIKE WE SAID, IT WILL MAKE A GREAT NOSTALGIA PRO STOCK or NO PREP GRUDGE VAR WHERE U WILL BE HINDREFS OF LBS LITER THAN the COMPETITION!!!

Since its a steel roof & quarters car, it Qualifys as a great street race legal,
or No Prep car,

Or Great Nostalgia Pro Stock Car that could replicate Mad Dogs MotorCraft T-bird
or ....
A Rickie Smiths, muti time World Champion IHRA MOUNTAIN MTR CAR W/CHARLIE BUCK HP.
Rickies IHRA T-BIRD is a very famous nostagia car to replicare as well,
OR many others T'Birds of of that era.

Car is presrntly Set up for automatic now,
Has front 460/Boss 429 orig motorplate, but previous owner kept mulid plate.
Car still still uses all the
(ahead of its time)
stuff like a 3/16" windshield, which Willie was so far ahead of most builders,
in aero even,
<took till yrs later in 90s, fir everyone else too learn that 1/8" widows sunk in under the Aero forces, @ speed,

But Willie knew all this it in the 80s, woring w/Butch Leal in the Pontiac Wind tunnel.
along w/knowing you meeded 3.5" to 4" housings.

Willoes chassis design you would be buying here was ran thry FEA,
(FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS)
WHEN THE PONTIAC ENGINEERING TEAM MADE ENTIRE 3D VAD DRAWING IF BUTCHES CHASDUS AND SOENT MONTHS RUNNING IT THRU "FEA" FOR DESIGN FLAWS.

When the PONTIAC Motorsports engineers came back, they were amazingly shocked at how well this dedign faired in there testing, and said for Willie not to change a thing on chassis..

But asked fir 1 change.
They wznted a 5" axle tube on rear end, & asked Willie if he could do 5" 4130 on Butches rears.
Willie was already using 3.5" Tube, bigger than anyone in industry, and said no, we cannot get top holes close enuff to axle CL w/5"
So engineers said how boit 4"??

He saud ok, & they were hapoy. As 4" was still better than the 3" & 3.25" used by all the others builders then an fir next decade plus, like ness, haas, bickel, & later RJ.

So thats how the 4" axle tube tyat Willlie, myself, and every shop i have worked fir, i brought the 4" tube eith me to integrate based on Engineering analysis.

So if you buy this car, you are buying the best quilty chassis design, oroven by Pontiac engineers & very sophisticated "FEA design software"...

This Car was being raced, when we purchased it, & after we got it, we started to disassemble it,

to clean it up a little, & do a few updates too it, as it is a 6.0 legal chassis,

that will handle way more than just
Top Sportsman 6 second HP,

or Street Outlaws type hp,
or other type of racing where u must use orig steel roof/quarters.

Yet , its still lighter than all carbon fiber cars, with all carbon fiber interior.

We were considering, while apart, updating too carbon interior, but if we were gonna race Nostagia, didnt want too go that direction.

Car is at the cross road where you can finish it back out too fit your dream and style if racing.

These Rells cars hold there value well, because all Willie cars use NAS BOLTS, are BUILT VERY WELL, AS WILLIE Always employed excellect TIG WELDERS.

ALUM FRONTEND TEEE ON THIS CAR WHICH WAS A WILLIE STANDARD PACKAGE PCS

These cars Proved themselves w/ guys like
WJ, Bob Glidden, Reher Morrison, Butch Leal,
BILL Orndorff /Jwrry Eckman,
all using these Willie cars, & loving them.

If you look at a Rells chassis vs a competitors , they are very well designed,
& way ahead of there time.

We have pics & more info.we are ready too sell sincecwe bought our old car bsck, so you will have a chance too buy the lowest priced Rells car on the knternet today!!

Call for pricing , if serious.
NO TIRE KICKERS.

Thx.
